Shoulder Pain is a common condition after an auto collision, and it’s something that Dr. Joseph Hakimi sees frequently in our Mid-Wilshire, LA office. Why is shoulder pain such a common symptom after an auto collision? How can your chiropractor help you get better?
There are at least two ways that you can get shoulder pain after an accident: by direct trauma to the shoulder joint or by radiating pain from the neck.
Direct damage can be caused by striking your shoulder on a hard surface in the car during the crash, or can occur if you have a tight grip on the steering wheel during a rear end impact. With this type of trauma, you’ll often be aware of the pain shortly after the wreck.
More frequently, Dr. Joseph Hakimi finds that shoulder or arm pain doesn’t immediately appear after a collision, but begins a few days or weeks after the accident. This type of shoulder pain actually starts in the neck. Injured muscles or ligaments in your neck can squeeze nerves in your neck, causing numbness, tingling, or pain in your shoulder, elbow, or wrist.
We’ve treated many types of shoulder pain in our Mid-Wilshire, LA office. This process involves chiropractic adjustments to restore your spine’s natural flexibility and exercises that strengthen your neck and shoulder.
You don’t have to suffer from shoulder pain. Dr. Joseph Hakimi is conveniently located in Mid-Wilshire, LA to help you get better, whether you’ve been in an auto collision or not. First, we’ll do a careful assessment to establish the root cause of your pain, and then decide how to restore your body’s natural functioning.
